Installation of Printer Driver The installation method of the printer driver is described in this chapter. The printer driver can be installed in two ways: by using plug-and-play or by using the additional wizard of the printer. 2.1 Installing the Printer Driver Using Plug-and-Play 2.1.1 Windows Vista (1) Insert the CR-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM Drive when Windows is running. (2) Turn on the machine. (3) When the machine is ready, connect the machine and computer with the USB cable. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears. (4) In the Found New Hardware wizard, select "Locate and install driver software (recommended)". If the User Account Control dialog box appears, click the [Continue] button. If a message appears, requesting confirmation to search online, click the [Don't search online] button. (5) In the dialog box for checking the disk, click the [I donft have the disk. Show me other options.] button. (6) Click the [Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)] button. (7) Select "Include subfolders", and then specify the following folder on the CD-ROM as the location where the driver is saved. In the case of English, specify "Driver\WinVista\English". With 64-bit operating systems, select "Driver\WinVista64\English". (8) Click the [Next] button. In the Windows Security dialog box, select "Install this driver software anyway". (9) After the installation is finished, click the [Close] button. (10)The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears again. Repeat the steps from (4) to (9). 2.1.2 Windows XP/Server 2003 (1) Insert the CR-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM Drive when Windows is running. (2) Turn on the machine. (3) When the machine is ready, connect the machine and computer with the USB cable. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears. (4) Select "Install from a list or specific location [Advanced]," and then click on [Next]. (5) Select "Include this location in the search" from "Search for the best driver in these locations," and then click on [Browse]. (6) Display "Driver\WIN2K_XP\(language)" in the CD-ROM and click on [OK]. In the case of English, specify "Driver\WIN2K_XP\English". With 64-bit operating systems, select "Driver\WINXP64\English. (7) Click on [Next]. The "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears, and then click on [Finish]. (8) The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears again. Repeat the steps from (4) to (7). 2.1.3 Windows 2000 (1) Insert the CR-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM Drive when Windows is running. (2) Turn on the machine. (4) Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)" in the [Install Hardware Device Drivers] dialog box, and then click on [Next]. The [Locate Driver Files] dialog box appears. (5) Select "Specify a location," and click on [Next]. (6) Click on [Browse...] of the displayed dialog box to display "Driver\WIN2K_XP\(language)" in the CD-ROM and click on [OK]. In the case of English, it becomes the following directory. Driver\WIN2K_XP\English (7) Click on [OK], and follow the instructions on screen until the "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears. Click on [Finish]. (4) Click on [Next], and then select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)" on the displayed dialog box. Click on [Next] again. (5) Select [Specify a location], and then click on [Browse...]. (6) Display "Driver\Win98_ME\(language)" in the CD-ROM and click on [OK]. In the case of English, it becomes the following directory. Driver\Win98_ME\English (7) Click on [Next] and follow the instructions on screen until the [Finish] button appears. (8) The "Additional Wizard of New Hardware" dialog box appears again. Repeat the steps from (4) to (7). 2.2 Installing the Printer Driver Using the Additional Wizard of Printer 2.2.1 Windows Vista (1) Insert the CR-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM Drive when Windows is running. (2) Click Windows [Start] button and click [Control Panel]. (3) Click [Hardware and Sound], then [Printer]. (4) Click [Add a printer] in the toolbar. (5) Click [Add a local printer]. (6) Follow the instructions on screen. Attention When the screen to specify the driver is appeared, display "Driver\WinVista\English" (for Windows Vista 32bit) , "Driver\WinVista64\English" (for Windows Vista 64bit) in the CD-ROM. 2.2.2 Windows XP/Server 2003 (1) Insert the CR-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM Drive when Windows is running. (2) Click on Windows [Start] button and click on [Printers and Faxes]. (3) Select [Add a printer] from the [Printer Tasks] menu. (4) Follow the instructions on screen. Attention When the screen to specify the driver is appeared, display "Driver\WIN2K_XP\English" (for Windows XP 32bit/Server 2003 32bit) , "Driver\WINXP64\English" (for Windows XP 64bit/Server 2003 64bit) in the CD-ROM. 2.2.3 Windows 2000/Me/98SE (1) Insert the CR-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM Drive when Windows is running. (2) Click on Windows [Start] button and select [Setting] - [Printer]. [Printer] window appears. (3) Double-click on the [Printer Addition] icon. [Additional wizard of printer] starts. (4) Follow the instruction on screen. =Note= When the screen to specify the driver is appeared, display "Driver\WIN2K_XP\English" (for Windows 2000), "Driver\WIN98_ME\English" (for Windows Me/98SE) directory. 3. Release Note 3.1 General * Please use "the Additional Wizard of Printer" to install the driver in Windows 98SE. * In Windows 98SE, please connect machine with network cable. * In Windows 98SE, Network Interface Card is required. * Watermark of double-byte character may not be able to indicate by boldface. * If the Watermark is set by changing the zoom ratio from the driver, the zoom setting does not work for Watermark. * It may be unable to print in the Netware environment.
